Brief History

The 99 year old Danish marine supply company G.W. Harnisch was purchased by its former sales manager, Erik Sandahl Sørensen in 1986. Most of the tooling for the oil lamps was retained, and production continued under the new company name “E.S. Sørensen.” With his background as a jeweler and watchmaker, Erik Sørensen had an eye for detail and design and used these skills to raise the level of craftsmanship to the superior standard we know today. From the early days to the present, E.S. Sørensen has maintained the spirit and tradition of fine oil lamps, all designed and crafted using tools that have been handed down from generation to generation. Drawing on our heritage and traditions, E.S.Sørensen’s oil lamps are made from the finest quality raw brass and stainless steel, with pride in producing each lamp meticulously and special attention to form and detail. Each piece is finished almost entirely by hand using methods that remain unchanged, with no compromise on quality. E.S.Sørensen oil lamps continue to be among the worlds finest!
