Description
O.E.M. Replacement Dietz #2 Size “Rising-Cone” “Cold Blast” Burner, (the “Cone” rises with the globe plate.) Uses 7/8″ wick, which is included. Measures 2 7/8″ Across Wings. Fits: Dietz #8 Air Pilot, and older Dietz #2 lanterns that use a “Cone-Less” burner.
New production #272 burners are made in China
NOTE: The Dietz #272 burner was originally used on Dietz #2 size lanterns, namely the #2 Blizzard and #2 Wizard, from 1913 until 1917 when World War 1 material shortages prompted a reversion back to the older style #262 “Wing-Lock Cone” burner. It was re-introduced in 1937 when Dietz started production of the Streamlined versions of the #2 Blizzard and #2 D-Lite, which were discontinued and replaced by the #8 Air Pilot in 1958, which continues to use the #272 burner.
This Burner DOES NOT Fit Embury Air Pilot #2 Lanterns, Include those marked with Hardware store names produced by Embury, Including, but not limited to: Blue Grass, Elgin, Gamble’s Artisan, Ward’s Better, Shapleigh Diamond, Hercules, Mastercaft, and Van Camp.

Very Good. The Dietz #8 Air Pilot really has not changed since the 1950’s so it’s fairly easy to know which parts fit the lantern.
